Teresa Howard is a British librettist, lyricist and playwright.
She's working on a new musical about palaeontologist Mary Anning, with composer Steven Edis and SIGNALS a radio play for the BBC. Recent work includes two opera librettos for classical composer Sun Keting: NEW GENUS and MILK, and a song-cycle commission for Conrad Sclar: UNSUNG. She’s been collaborating with composer Dylan Richards and director Anne Zacho Søgaard on KARAOKE SOUNDSCAPE, a multi-media immersive project, developed by TRAVERS (Copenhagen Contemporary, 2021)**
Teresa has written book and lyrics for two musicals composed by Steven Edis: I CAPTURE THE CASTLE, based on the novel by Dodie Smith (UK Tour 2017 Watford Palace Theatre, Bolton Octagon and Oxford Playhouse) and POSSESSED, (Camden People’s Theatre, Oxford Playhouse) which will shortly receive a new immersive production at the Frogmore Paper Mill in Hertfordshire. She wrote book and lyrics for the musical adaptation of William Nicholson’s novel THE WIND SINGER, with composer Sarah Llewellyn (RSC residency and workshop directed by Lotte Wakeham, MD Bruce O’Neil, and BEAM showcase at the Theatre Royal Stratford East (director Cressida Carrie, MD Catherine Jayes) and a Peggy Ramsay Foundation award for the book).**
Her stage plays include GROCK (Chichester Festival Theatre) and* STONEFIST *(Soho Theatre) and for TV she wrote the series *PROTECTORS *(Talisman films).
Teresa is a Trustee of Mercury Musical Developments, has worked for the Literary Department of the Royal Court Theatre, and received Fellowships as resident writer for Winchester School of Art and the Hosking Houses Trust.
