FREYA CATRIN SMITH & JACK WILLIAMS
Freya and Jack are multi award-winning musical theatre writers and founders of Bottle Cap Theatre.
Their work includes RIDE (Workshop Production at The Garrick, June 2021, VAULT Festival March 2020 - winner of VAULT Festival's Show of the Week, an OffCom award); THE LIMIT (March 2019, Winner of VAULT Festival’s People’s Choice Award and Origins Award for Outstanding New Work), and song-cycle PART A (Edinburgh Fringe sell-out show, featured on BBC 3’s Edinburgh Comedy Fest Live). They currently have a number of projects in development, one of which Freya is developing as a recipient of an MGCFutures Bursary.
In 2020 THE LIMIT was developed and extended in an exclusive digital commission with the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, streamed online and viewed by 20,000 people.
Their work has been performed at venues including The Garrick in London’s West End, The Other Palace, The Roundhouse and The Leicester Square Theatre, and has been developed with drama schools including Central, ArtsEd and the MTA. They are regular guests at Adam Lenson’s SIGNAL, and have featured twice on ALL THAT SCRATCH, a podcast recorded at The Other Palace.
In 2020 Freya and Jack were finalists in the Stiles & Drewe Best New Song Prize (with songs ‘Ride’ from RIDE and ‘Sparks’ from THE LIMIT), and Freya was a finalist for the Cameron Mackintosh Resident Composer Award. In 2019 Freya and Jack were winners of Wilton's Music Hall ‘Plays Without Décor’ scheme, which funded an R&D week for THE LIMIT. They are associate artists at the University of Falmouth.
