DOMINIC POWELL
Dominic Powell is a Royal Central School of Speech and Drama & BRIT School graduated actor, writer and composer. He has enjoyed producing and premiering new writing at the Phoenix Arts Club, The Vaults, Cockpit Theatre, Park Theatre, Landor Theatre, Above the Arts and the Theatre Café on Shaftesbury Avenue in the heart of the West End.
Dominic is an innovative storyteller, combining trendsetting concepts with innovative narratology to develop a dynamic musical theatre repertoire alongside a slate of theatre and television projects. His writing explores a diverse range of themes including gender, commercialism, mental health, post-modernism, the origins of evil and celebrity culture.
Dominic's composition stems from over a decade of piano practical and music theory training and examinations, gaining Distinctions from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music. It’s comprised of influences including the sophisticated, detailed approach of Stephen Sondheim, the heavily thematic styles and jazzy motifs Stephen Schwartz and Alan Menken employ which he combines with his deep gospel heritage to create a new contemporary musical theatre sound.
